The Bamboo Forest biome is a forest of tall Bamboo Trees that overlook a flat, vibrant land with shrubs, bushes, and ferns.
Bamboo Forest is a flat biome with ground made of large patches of both Podzol and Grass blocks. Tall bamboo trees (about 20 blocks high) soar above, while the ground is covered in grasses, ferns and dense oak shrubs much like other jungle biomes. Jungle temples can spawn here.
The most notable feature is of course the Bamboo Trees. Below them can spawn small Oak Trees, Ferns, Medium Grass, Grass, Dandelions, Poppies, Tall Grass, and Bushes. Leaf Piles also occur, and Berry Bushes can provide a small amount of food, although they spawn infrequently here.
Mobs & NPCsEdit
Passive mobs appear absent, and villages do not spawn, meaning only hostiles are likely to be creeping about.
Surviving in this biome is quite easy, despite some small difficulties. Finding food won't be very hard for the player, as ferns can give seeds just like grass. Bamboo can be crafted into a Bamboo Thatching for building, or used in place of sticks.
This biome is a little crowded. Wandering about at night is a very bad idea. Mobs can hide behind the trees or around the bushes, therefore ambushes are sure to occur, so it would be wise to not go out at night.
Prior to 1.11.2, dense oak shrubs appeared in this biome.
- In real life, bamboo forests are native to Eastern Asia, in countries like China, Korea, Japan.
- In real life, newly grown bamboo can be eaten, though Biomes O' Plenty doesn't give the possibility of that.
- Before 1.8 the Biome ID was 174.
