This feature used to be in the mod but has since been removed.
Notes: Removed in Minecraft 1.18

The Mangrove is a sub biome consisting of water with Mangrove Roots growing everywhere in large groups out of dirty blue waters. The water rarely goes below 62, making it one of the flattest biomes in Biomes O' Plenty. It is also a beach biome for tropical biomes that are bordering Oceans.

Survival Tips[]

In Survival Mode the cons of living in this biome are the fact that monsters survive in the water, and it is awkward to travel through by boat. However it is easier if one travels atop the trees. Mangroves are considered good spots for fishing.

History[]

Before BOP for 1.8, the mangrove was drastically different: Lacking its special water color and having much more sand than mud. It was also easier to get around in the biome as there was much more land.

In a very late version of BOP for 1.11.2 the Mangrove is made no longer an oceanic biome, causing the biome ID to change. The old biome ID was 98.

In 1.13.2 and upwards, Mangrove Trees were replaced with Mangrove Roots.

In build 1.14.4-9.0.0.207; released Tue Aug 06 03:32:09 GMT 2019; the Changelog showed forstride "added the Mangrove as a beach biome for tropical biomes." Given that the only Mangrove in the config is biomesoplenty:bayou_mangrove under sub biomes, the Changelog doesn't report the removal of the Mangrove, and updates to the Mangrove were still being made up to build 1.15.2-10.0.0.333 (Tue Feb 18 13:29:17 GMT 2020), it is likely the above is the change made to the Mangrove becoming a sub biome. While the developers still refer to this sub biome as simply Mangrove, the parent biome; the Bayou; is indicated in its namespaced ID. Just like how the namespaced ID of Pumpkin Patch is biomesoplenty:seasonal_pumpkin_patch because it is a sub biome of the Seasonal Forest.

Minecraft Live 2021 announced a revamp to swamps coming in 1.19, adding mangrove swamps, but with different generation.
