Sapphire is a biome-specific gemstone introduced with Biomes O'Plenty. It appears as an ore, an item, and decorative block.
Generation
Sapphire Ore can be discovered in water based biomes. A current list of these biomes can be found under Sapphire Biomes.
Obtaining
An Iron Pickaxe or better is required to mine Sapphire Ore. A Silk Touch Pickaxe can be used to collect the block of ore rather than the Sapphire drop. The ore drops one gem with an unenchanted pickaxe. With fortune, the ore can drop up to four gems, one extra per level of fortune. Sapphire Ore cannot be smelted.
Use
9 Sapphire can be crafted into a Block of Sapphire for storage or decoration. These stack to 64.
